PHP merupakan bahasa pemograman open source yang sangat populer saat ini, kemudahan dalam penggunaan, function dan library yang cukup lengkap serta handling keamanan yang  cukup baik menjadikan PHP sebagai salah satu bahasa yang disukai para web developer dan juga para system developer dalam mengembangkan aplikasi berbasis web. Awal kemunculan PHP tidak lepas dari keberadaan database mysql sebagai pelengkap dalam pengembangan aplikasi 3tier namun kini PHP sudah cukup mampu berintegrasi dengan database server lainnya seperti Microsoft SQL server dengan Driver serta built function yang cukup lengkap.
