Have you ever felt the need to have text messages and missed calls sent to your inbox? No? Well, you’re not alone. There is, however, apparently, a need for an app that does exactly this and we’ve got it covered after the jump.
The discovery comes from our friends over at Digital Inspiration – a popular technology blog – in which they discuss the need for such an app and, of course, the app itself.
There are plenty of apps that offer the ability to forward texts and missed calls to a specified email address, but no app does it as well as SMS2Gmail. While it only says SMS in the name, it can send notifications for missed calls too!

I’ve tested the app on my Samsung Galaxy S II on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and can confirm that it works as advertised. I requested a friend to send me a couple of messages along with a missed call. Notifications for each of these were then sent to my Gmail account by SMS2Gmail.
My only gripe with the app is how it is limited to sending notifications to Gmail accounts only. While everyone who has an Android phone has a Gmail account, there will be plenty of cases where people use a Hotmail or a Yahoo! account as primary.
Come to think of it, I actually could’ve used this app back in high school. Students weren’t allowed to bring cell phones inside college premises and, as such, it meant their phone would remain unattended for 6-7 hours. If I had this app, I could have all texts and missed calls information sent to my inbox, which I could check from the computer lab and then could act accordingly.
